Family Photos | A Scrapbook Layout

by Tammy on August 14, 2012

So, I was reminiscing a little over the weekend as I realized we were upon a certain anniversary. Eight years ago today, Orlando was dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Charley. The storm blew through around 10 PM on the 13th of August in 2004. It knocked out my power, blew down my fence, and scattered debris all over my yard. I hightailed it to my Mom and Dad?s after the storm because they had power and hot water!

And yes, even though we have to deal with hurricanes every summer, I still wanted to move back to Central Florida. Good times! After eight years, I finally scrapbooked the rest of my Hurricane Charley photos. But the layouts are not photographed yet, so today I have something more recent to share.

These are some candid shots from Spring Break this year when we got our family portrait updated. I always remind everyone that we have to stick to two or three colors so we aren?t all clashing with each other in the portrait. My nephew Michael had the brilliant idea that we should each wear a different solid color (like Skittles) so it wouldn?t matter. He?s a keeper!

That is how we came to be wearing golf shirts. It?s the kind of story that needs to be documented and makes a great scrapbook page!

I just picked up some of the Escape collection from Little Yellow Bicycle and the colors were a perfect match for these photos. I really tried to incorporate the cloud paper, but the it just didn?t look right floating along the middle. But the cameras are just as fun and support the theme of the page. I kept the colors bright and used up some old Heidi Swapp journaling spots and a K&Co border strip. I even got out a Quickutz alphabet! It?s so nice to be unpacked and have access to all my stuff whenever I need it.

Other: Quickutz Reuse alphabet, EK Success dog tag punch, Heidi Swapp journaling spots, DMC embroidery thread.

So, do you make sure your family coordinates outfits for family portrait day? Tell me we are not the only family who does!

Thanks for stopping by today!
